What is metal spinning?

It is a method of shaping sheet metal discs through tool pressure while it is revolving on a lathe. Due to the nature of the process, most spinnings are round or concentric in shape. However, combined with additional processes it is possible to produce irregular shapes.

The most common materials used in the spinning process are hot rolled and cold rolled steel, aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and stainless steel alloys. In some instances, other materials such as titanium, nickel, Monel, inconel, silver, gold, and other exotic metals may be spun.

Hy-Grade is capable of spinning metal parts from one-half an inch to ninety-four inches in diameter. Material thickness can be limited to the shape of the part and the type of material being used. Typically, Hy-Grade handles materials less than one hundred twenty thousandths thick.
